Kaiden's Birthday Gift from Mommy

I'm pretty excited to post these pictures of the first blanket I've ever knitted. I got the pattern from one of my favorite knitting sites, PurlBee. Instead of using the suggested size 7 needles, I used size 13 because 1) I didn't want to go out and buy another set of circular needles and 2) I wanted the blanket to be a bit bigger so Kaiden could use it when he gets older. It took me about 2 1/2 weeks of constant knitting. I knit while watching movies, in the car, and any place else you can think of. I wanted to get it done by Kaiden's birthday (which I successfully did) but I'm pretty sure it was overkill. It's been a few weeks since I picked up knitting needles and just holding them yesterday hurt my hands. I wanted to make gifts for people this Christmas but I definitely don't think that will be happening anytime soon. In the meantime, I'm learning how to crochet since it's quicker and (at least I feel...) requires less movement in the hands.

Materials used:
Size 13 24" in circular needles
6 skeins of Vanna White's Yarn (On sale for $1.99 each at Michaels!)

If you are new to knitting, this is probably the easiest pattern you could ever do. You just do the knit stitch over and over and over.

I can tell Kaiden loves it and I know years from now I won't have a problem if he's still attached to it :)

My First Cowl!

I was at a store and saw a knit similar to this. They called it a scarf but there are no ends so I think it's a cowl... Anyways, I fell in love with the design immediately but didn't care for the $29.99 price tag. I set out to replicate it and I'm pretty excited about my results. I originally wanted to make this with a marled yarn but I decided to work with what I had and figured I could make another one later. After spending over a week on and off working on this, I decided the $29.99 price tag wasn't so bad considering how much time and yarn this project required. I was hoping I could sell these in my shop but there is no price tag for that much time spent on something. (However, I am thinking about selling the pattern on Etsy though...) Personal projects like this are so rewarding. Now on to my next project...a birthday blanket for Kaiden!

Handmade Headbands

I learned how to knit last summer while pregnant with Kaiden and now I'm addicted. I stopped when the weather started to warm up but now that it's cooling down around here (or is supposed to be) I decided to dust off the old knitting needles. I started this headband about two days ago and have been working on it off and on. Since I have already gotten requests for some to be made, I've decided to sell them! I will be posting the link to my Etsy shop as soon as they are ready :)
